Founded on 19 January 2025 as a UK-registered limited company, we are a brand born from a passion for refined craftsmanship and uncompromising quality in personal care — and from a simple belief that the comb you use every day deserves to be as well made as anything else you own.
Where we started
We began with a singular mission: to elevate the everyday comb into an object of lasting beauty and performance. Our debut collection was cellulose acetate — a plant-based material derived from wood pulp and cotton, chosen because it is naturally anti-static, flexible rather than brittle, and gentle on hair and scalp in a way that injection-moulded plastic simply cannot match. Each comb is individually hand-cut from a solid sheet and hand-polished to smooth, rounded teeth, then finished in timeless tortoiseshell or classic black.
Where we are today
That first collection has grown into a thoughtfully prepared range of 61 handmade combs across three materials — designed to cater for every aspect of hair grooming, from daily styling and detangling to sectioning, travel and facial hair:
- 41 cellulose acetate combs in tortoiseshell and black — fine, coarse, dual-tooth, wide-tooth, step-tapered and criss-cross designs, rat-tail sectioning combs, and rake combs with handles for thick, curly and tangled hair
- 11 steam beechwood combs — naturally anti-static, fully biodegradable, and gently massaging on the scalp
- 9 aluminium combs machined from 6163-grade alloy — water-resistant, rust-proof and built to last a lifetime
Across all three materials you'll find full-size styling combs, compact pocket combs, and dedicated beard and moustache combs with or without a keyring — from 7.5 cm pocket combs to 22 cm detangling combs with handles. Whatever your hair type or routine, there is a KYVU comb made for it.
How we make them
Every comb is handmade, not moulded. There are no seams along the teeth, no sharp edges and no static. Each piece passes multiple levels of inspection before it reaches you, and because it is hand-finished, no two are exactly alike — small variations in pattern and grain are part of its character.
Why it matters
Billions of plastic combs are made, used briefly and thrown away every year. A KYVU comb is designed to replace all of them: cellulose acetate for 10–20 years, beechwood for many years with a little care, and aluminium for a lifetime.
